POLO SHIRTS
ポロシャツの名前の由来である「ポロ」は、イギリスの伝統競技であるポロから。
1920年当時のテニスウェアとして着用されていたのは長袖のコットンシャツ。
しかし、動きまわり汗をかくスポーツをするためのウェアとして機能性・実用性面に欠けていた。そこで、ポロの選手が着用していたジャージー素材のシャツに注目し、テニス用に半袖に改良し衿を追加された。
そのため、ポロシャツの起源はテニスウェアからであったとされている。
今では、襟付きの半袖・ボタン付き・鹿の子素材が主流である。
